2021 Fall Semester Update

Thank you all for your tremendous support during the 2020 – 2021 school year.  We have finished our first-ever online academic school year. We are grateful to parents, our students, and staff for rising to the challenges in these unprecedented times.

For our Fall 2021 semester, we will continue our online learning. Last year, we were forced to be reactive and
close our doors for the first time in 32 years to guarantee our families’ safety. This time, we feel blessed to take a proactive approach. We want to keep innovating and persisting, so learning does not stop regardless of the COVID-19 landscape. Another semester of online learning will allow us to monitor results from summer travel plans, regular school transition plans, vaccinations and hopefully a demise of the new variants’ waves. We have great hopes to return to face to face, perhaps as soon as Spring 2022 semester.

2021 ELAR Winners

Our Spring 2021 English Language Art and Reading classes had a challenging writing prompt this semester! All classes from 1st grade to 6th grade had the same prompt. It was a verbose writing prompt similar to STAAR writing prompts where students must showcase not just their writing skills but their attention to detail and focus. All students did a good job. Not all essays were perfect, however you can tell there was great effort and focus in writing these essays. Our teachers are incredibly proud of all the students.

First place winners
were picked for their strengths in the following categories: completion of all work, clarity, grammar, creativity, originality and neat handwriting.

Honorable mention winners
were picked for their improvements in writing which could be found in the same categories of: completion of all work, clarity, grammar, creativity, originality and neat handwriting.

We know many students do not enjoy writing. Some students dislike the different components of writing like grammar, spelling and vocabulary. However, these same students may enjoy different complex components of math problems. We encourage all students to not be intimidated by the writing process. Following the stages of writing and our ELAR lessons, everyone can be a strong writer! After all, with writing you can find amazing ways to express yourself, your opinions and fantastic stories!
